Summary: Onizuke Eikichi used to be the leader of a biker gang who sought to rule the streets. As he's grown older though, his tastes have matured and now he's set his sights on being becoming the greatest teacher...so he can hook up with high school girls. In spite of his worst natures though, Onizuka is determined to be the man his troubled students need, laws and strict administration be damned.
Review: GTO is a zany and bizzare show centered on an educator that could probably murder anyone who gets in his way if he stopped caring about his job. While this does sound familiar to a more contemporary title, GTO is a classic (mainly because it looks and feels positively ancient). The art, character portrayals, routine gags, and social/societal expectations are a decade or two old, yet it still has a lot of charm. While Onizuka might be a sleaze, he does have a heart of gold and is a good person at the end of the day. While the problem students are obnoxious and absolutely deserve ridicule, they are all kids in need of some serious life lessons to get them back on the right course, and who better to teach them than a man who has already taken big steps to get himself on the right path. The show's villains are, however, simply bad people out to ruin other people's lives because of their intolerance and righteous ideals. GTO is for the most part a dumb and occasionally perverse show that's in it for the gags, but it does have a lot of heart in it's more thoughtful and touching moments, much like the highly flawed, titular main character.
